Aurora

Aurora Aksnes, born June 15th of 1997 in Stavanger and is professionally known as Aurora often stylized in uppercase in the form of AURORA is an Norwegian musician and singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, was released in May of 2015 by Decca Records to great approval from music journalists and media. The artist has already recorded two high-profile covers Half the World Away by the band Oasis to promote a Christmas ad from John Lewis and Nature Boy by Nat King Cole. Her name was also recognized via a blog post from Katy Perry where Perry endorsed her song Runaway. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories are of discovering a piano hidden in the attic of her home, and becoming fascinated with the sound it made. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. He urged her not to do music just to have fun or as a means of growth but rather, she should pursue it. So she started with her own music. Her influences include renowned writer Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in addition to her love of Bjork's style. Her mom encouraged her to play her songs in public, not in order to gain fame but rather to let others know that they matter and the good they do for the world. Piano was her first instrument at the age of six, and she started making music at the age of nine. Her family didn't have any idea until she was 14. There was no way she could have imagined to turn into Aurora. She just loves to write songs. For her, the music she writes is her way of feeling everything.
